“春運”是怎么來的？
The word “chunyun” was first coined in the People’s Daily newspaper, in 1980.
“春運”一詞最早出現(xiàn)在1980年的《人民日報》上。
Since China’s reform and opening up in the late 1970s, with the relaxation of restrictions on the flow of people and increasing economic opportunities in big cities, especially on the east coast of China, more and more workers have chosen to leave their hometowns and go out to earn money.
自從中國在20世紀70年代末實行改革開放，對人員流動的限制放松，大城市就業(yè)機會的增加，尤其是在中國的東海岸，越來越多的人選擇離開家鄉(xiāng)去外地賺錢。
Therefore a very large number of people are employed from rural to urban areas, resulting in massive migration during the Spring Festival, which of course means heading back to their hometowns, often by train- high-speed train is the most popular means of transportation in China, which is fast and convenient and with a reasonable price. These migrant workers have become the major passengers in the festive season.
因此，大量的人從農(nóng)村被雇傭到城市，同時也就意味著春節(jié)期間會有大量人口通過方便經(jīng)濟的火車、高鐵等交通方式返鄉(xiāng)，造成了大規(guī)模的人口遷移現(xiàn)象。正是這些人口成為了春運的主要旅客。
什么是“春運”？
The Spring Festival Travel Season, or Spring Rush, also referred to “chūn yùn” 春運 in Chinese, is a period of busy travel around Chinese New Year, with extremely heavy traffic. The period usually begins 15 days before lunar New Year’s Day, and lasts a total of 40 days.
春運是集中于中國春節(jié)期間的一段交通繁忙期。春運一般始于臘月十五，并一直延續(xù)到次年正月廿五，為期40天左右。

The Spring Rush in 2020 will be from January 10 to February 19, during which train and bus tickets will be in great demand.
2020年的春運于1月10日開始到2月19日結束，這期間火車票和汽車票的需求量會非常大。
